Overview

Scratchy is designed to be used without an account. The app does not require sign-in, does not display advertising, and does not use analytics or tracking in the iOS and Android builds. All artwork, settings, and gallery data are stored locally on your device by default.

Information We Collect

Scratchy does not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or device identifiers. No account or sign-in is required to use any feature of the app.

Photos

Photos you use within the app (for example, to create scratch-art pictures or puzzles) are processed on your device. Photos are not uploaded unless you choose to share a drawing that contains a photo with another person (see Sharing below).

Sharing

Scratchy includes optional sharing features that you initiate. When you use these features, certain data is transmitted to our servers or cloud services to enable the sharing.

Mystery Cards. When you share a drawing as a Mystery Card link, the drawing data (brush strokes, pattern information, and any associated photo) is uploaded so that the recipient can open and view it. Mystery Cards do not contain personal information or device identifiers.

Collaborative Drawing. When you invite someone to draw together, drawing data (brush strokes, pattern information, and any associated photo) is transmitted to cloud services in real time so that both participants can see each other's contributions. A display name you choose is visible to the other participant. Collaborative sessions are temporary and are removed when the session ends.

Sharing Images. When you share a finished drawing as an image, sharing is handled by your device's built-in share sheet. The image leaves your device only through the channel you choose (Messages, email, etc.).

Web Version

The web version at thescratchy.app uses analytics to understand how the app is used, such as which features are opened and how often. This is collected in aggregate, with advertising and cross-site personalisation signals switched off. The iOS and Android app builds do not include analytics.

Children

Scratchy is designed for all ages. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The sharing features described above transmit only drawing data, not personal information.

Data Retention

Mystery Card data is stored on our servers and may be retained indefinitely so that shared links continue to work. Collaborative session data is temporary and is removed when the session ends. Locally stored artwork and settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
